Pets for Senior Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com
This
month we are sad to announce two Bridge Kids, only with us for a short
time. Josie was in foster care with Marti. Corkie was in foster care
with Susan. Marti knew within hours that Josie's time was short. We all
had high hopes for Corkie after her surgery. Alas, the cancer spread
quickly.
Misty
continues to amaze us in Fur-ever foster care with Colleen. Doc is no
longer on "Stand-by" for a house call for the trip to the
Bridge. Ringo is still doing well even though now completely blind.
Colleen & daughter Alex share his care.
Helga is
in foster care with Marti. Jiminey is with Jo Anne. Hopalong
"Hoppy" & Cinderella are with Susan. Please go to our home
page, click on to the link to Chappy's Place, then read updates on the
foster kids. Foster parents update us so that folks looking for a pet
will have as much info. about their likes & dislikes as is known.
Visits to
the Good Samaritan Care Center were Darlene, Josie with Marti, Vicki
& Fisher. Vicki & Fisher had fresh groomings to show off to
residents & staff. We will post an update on our home page within
the next few days for the Halloween Pets on Parade.
Adoptions
for the month were Tootsie, (Failed Fostering 101), Fisher & Lil
Stevie Wunder. Tootsie's medical is quite challenging & Susan wanted
her to end her life as an adopted fur-child, not as a foster-furchild.
Fisher certainly waited a long time for just the right adopter to love
him just as he is. Lil Stevie Wunder, an 8 week old blind min pin,
pulled from a high kill shelter for transport to a rescue familiar with
blind & deaf fur-kids, was adopted before we arranged travel. An
adoptive home is much better than the best rescue.
The Cole
Camp pound pups were transferred to a rescue out of state. They flew out
in a private airplane. What a ride!! What a save!! Leo, the Cole Camp
pound dog, was transferred to a shelter for one last chance to find him
a home. The shelter is open to the public, thus lots of visitors. Paws
are still crossed for Leo. He will remain on our Pending Adoption page
until adopted or sent to the Bridge.
A very
special adoption was Darlene, a retired service dog from Topeka. You may
read about her on our Adoptable page as her story is remaining there for
the month to educate readers on retired service dogs, the fate she
almost suffered after a lifetime of service to her blind mistress.
We also
encourage you to check out Charlie Brown's Blog from our home page. A
solution seems to be found to his chronic skin problems. Yeah!!
Both Lexi
& Marie Lavoe attended Trina's Obedience & Behavior Modification
Class. Young, active dogs especially need obedience training. We have
posted Trina's evaluation on their profiles.
Oct. is
Spay/Neuter month for our small town & surrounding areas. We asked
four veterinarians to assist & they offered $10 off their regular
fees for the entire month. Please see our home page for participating
vets. There is also a notice in area newspapers that will run for a
month. A small start to make a difference on unwanted pets.
A
reminder to check petfinder.com weekly for their special events. Also a
reminder that if your pets must be outside, please add extra bedding, a
heated water bowl as winter approaches.
We again
give thanks to each of you who so graciously give of your time &
talents to help the fur-kids here. We could not do our work without your
continued support & prayers. God bless you & yours.
