Finding Pets Fur-Ever Homes

www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com

Bridge Kids -Too many fur-kids went to the Bridge this month. Dolly Parton became an Angel Chick. RebaRed & Mascot Max became Angel Dogs We also offer sympathy to Karl & Susan as Jolly became an Angel Dog, to Jo Ann on the passing of Jervis. Last but not least, sympathy to Carol on the loss of Kylie & Bear. Pet Bereavement Counselor contact is Michelle at mzcgrief@yahoo.com if you need to talk with someone who understands your grief.

Foster Parents continue to do an outstanding job. They love & let go, making room for another. We surely need more great foster homes!

Good Samaritan Care Center - Oktoberfest Pet Fest on the 10th was well attended, Pet Talent Show, Fashion Show, Assisted Dachshund Races. Pictures by Art, our Cole Camp web-master: http://colecamparea.com/octfest09 Look closely & you will see some of the fosters & volunteers, including fur-kids adopted & fostered as well as community members & their pets. It was a howling good time. Halloween Pets on Parade for the 31st was canceled by the GSCC due to H1N1 Virus concerns. Ken, Sandy, Jim, Jennifer, children & fur-kids went to the Lincoln Community Nursing Home with their fur-kids & children in costumes.

Adoptions began with Sully leaving from the Sanctuary, Frith leaving foster care from Andrea. Esposita, Murphy, Lugar & Elway left foster mom Judy V. Cocoa left foster family Karl & Susan.

Cole Camp pound dogs were transferred to Sedalia shelter having overstayed their welcome at the holding facility. We continued to network on them, BlackJack, an adult black lab, neutered & Rabies, Carlisle, a beagle mix, neutered & Rabies. They get extra time to find a fur-ever home by the transfer, plus already neutered & Rabies a real bargain for a $45 adoption fee that Sedalia has. Pennies for Pooches paid for the neuter on Carlisle, the Rabies on both dogs. We were later notified that both dogs were adopted, BlackJack by a local Cole Camp couple. The black chi male, Lil Scamp, was altered & Rabies, also using Pennies for Pooches, waits for an adopter. The terrier, possibly Jack Russell mix, female puppy waits for her owner to reclaim her.

Upcoming Events will be rather slow with participation by us as winter comes to the Valley of 7 Bells and we go into hibernation mode. We have updated dentals & vaccinations on those that are waiting so patiently for their fur-ever home. If your pets are unable to be inside, please add extra straw to their dog houses, a heated water bowl or bucket, fresh water, plus an extra helping of food on especially cold days & nights.

What we did this month - Bark in the Park at Whiteman Air Force Base was a really fun time, wee bit on the chilly side. Clancy got to meet a lot of folks with foster mom Donna. Susan hosted a Stampin Up card making project at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Holden for the troops in Afghanistan. The cards will be sent to a Chaplain, distributed to the troops so they may send a home made card to their loved ones for the holidays. 269 cards were made! Maple St. Cafe & Rosebud Gifts & Fabric sent Jeff Johnson a few more boxes with tea, coffee, frisbees. Neil mailed off a really large box of golf balls, some brand new. Jeff's tour will be ending in December. Organ Donor sign-up at Split Rail Country Market's 3 day event resulted in 75 folks signing to share the Gift of Life. Yours truly, Judy R. Haushahn, as well as a few others from Cole Camp, attended Sunshine Law Training on Oct 26 at the Benton County Courthouse. It was presented by Tom Durkin of the Attorney General's Office. Judy V, a first responder with Montrose Fire Dept. had a Halloween Pets Fun night with firefighters' pets in costume handing out warm cider, treats. Char has been very busy getting educational materials lined up for going into the schools to give a chat about children and pets. Tara has asked us to attend the Boys & Girls Club during November so Char is making sure enough handouts are available for all the children.

Petfinder.com deserves all the THANKS for making our work possible. Please check out their home page for educational links to help you with your adopted pet or for chosing the right pet for your home. Kristy & Mike are extremely grateful for their pet insurance now that Gibbs, FKA Jayden, has been diagnosed with liver shunt. Did you know that The PetFirst adoption policy has NO age restrictions? You may activate their introductory pet insurance offer for just $5 for the first month by calling or visiting https://pets.petfirsthealthcare.com/petfinder/enroll.aspx

This month we give thanks for all those fur-kids that have come through our rescue since June 2004. We also give thanks for the wonderful veterinarians, adopters, volunteers, fosters, supporters, shelters & rescues as it truly takes a village to raise a fur-child. We hope we continue to merit your trust & faith in the work we do. These are His fur-kids, entrusted to us to find the best home possible. YOU have each made that possible. THANKS!

And last, but not least, a very special prayer for our heroes here and in a far away land keeping us safe and free. May God watch over them & those that wait patiently for their return.
