Jontue
went to Polly's Precious Paws for a make-over, then off to the care
centers. At Cole Camp's Good Samaritan Care Center she represented the
K-9 Red Hat Society. She also visited the Golden Age Living Center in
Stover, sporting her purple collar, purple harness, red leash. She LOVES
lying on a lap, being held.
This is
the first month in a very long time we have not had any adoptions.. All
the fur-kids are waiting patiently for their fur-ever homes.
1st
Annual Dachshund races during Oktoberfest on 13th. There were 12
entries. A Pet Talent Show & Pet Fashion Show (open to all breeds),
followed by the Dashunds only racers. Bittsie, Daisy, Dodi, Lil Hans,
Moses, Omi all ran in the races. Lots of laughs & folks seemed to
enjoy their good time. We had several local sponsors & plan to make
this an annual event during 2008 Oktoberfest plus add a Volkswagen car
show.
Pets on
Parade at the Good Samaritan Care Center was held Oct. 27 with 17 pets
which included one miniature donkey. Plenty of costumes, prizes, fun.
Team Whiteman folks were there with a pet in costume, helped with
judging & distribution of prizes. Prizes were provided by Heimsoth
Bros Feed & Polly's Precious Paws. Special entertainment was
provided by Bob & Whitey, costumed MCs. Marti & Barb handled
registrations. It was a really howling good time with one hee haw for
everyone.
Sammy Joe
finally met Carl with KCRescue & Saint Mountain. Also there were
Paula with her Saints Jasmine & Barbie at the Happy Tails Dog Park
in Lee's Summit for a few hours of socializing with his own kind. The
park was lovely, several other breeds there, yet the Saints seemed to
enjoy the company of each other. Sammy is an excellent vehicle rider.
Carl sent his evaluation of Sammy which we posted to his profile. We
keep crossing our paws for his fur-ever home.
During
November five of our area veterinarians will offer $10 off their regular
spay/neuter fee. Drs. Anstaett, Hancock, Heimsoth, Johnson &
Schumacher are helping this year. Even if one pet is altered, that will
help reduce unwanted pets.

We give
THANKS this month for all of those wonderful ways so many of you have
helped us. Now, we ask that you help a very special group of folks
through the end of the year. Team Whiteman (Whiteman Air Force Base) has
been a huge asset to our community. They have a Youth Activities Center,
Child Care Center, & Community Activity CenterActivities with the
kids on-base. They could use:Craft supplies, games, toys. They also have
Project Cinderella needing evening dresses for formal events at the
base. You may drop your items at Cole Camp City Hall or mail them to:
Attn: Team Whiteman, c/o City Hall, PO Box 36, Cole Camp, MO 65325-0036.
A representative from the base will come to Cole Camp or our Mayor &
City Administrator will take the items to the base for the children.
Do you
have a Happy Tail? All of our adopters do! Please send Petfinder.com
your pet's happy ending story. It will be entered in their monthly Happy
"Tail" drawing. You may win a Man's Best Friend Fun Pack &
a baseball cap from the friends at The Animal Rescue Site.
We give
thanks to each of you who so generously give of your time & talents
to help these fur-kids as they wait patiently for their fur-ever homes.
Rescue life is good, yet a fur-ever home is best. We could not do this
work without your continued support. God bless you each & every one.
And last,
but not least, a very special prayer for our heros here and in a far
away land keeping us safe & free. May our Lord wrap His bubble of
protection about them & those that wait, worry & pray until they
return home safely.
