November 2006

Senior Pets for Senior Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com

We start the month of November giving "Thanks" that we had no Bridge Kids. Yeah!!

We give "Thanks" that Wabbit is back safe & sound after her wunaway!! She will be here for training on trust & leash walking, then will return to her adoptive mom, Judith. Her exploits are on the Pending pg. & Hold pg. on our site.

We give "Thanks" also to Susan & Karl Timmerman and Fox TV 4 news, for doing a segment on Adopt-A-Shelter Dog for Oct. Susan & Karl appeared on the show with Pixie & Chico. Nov. is Adopt-A-Senior-Dog. We are grateful to Fox TV 4 & also to Susan & Karl for their time.

Misty is still hangin' on with Colleen in Fur-ever Foster care. Ringo is still quite lively, coping with his loss of vision.

Elvis is in foster care with Marti. Jiminey is in foster care with Jo Anne. Hoppy & Cinderella are in foster care with Susan. Please click on the link to Chappy's Place on our home page, then the button to Foster Kids, read updates. Our foster parent updates help you know if the pet is suitable for your home. Also, please remember to check out the Blog to Charlie Brown, link on our home page. One fur-kid that really surprised us all with his courage & zest for living.

Visits to the Good Samaritan Care Center were Wabbit (in training), Johan, Chico, Della & Elvis. We also attended the Halloween Pets on Parade with Marti taking Elvis. This year was even bigger & better than last year. A1C Melissa Bocardo from Whiteman AFB was the Master of Ceremonies. She brought her husband & daughter along. SSgt Erin Connolly attended with her husband & fur-kid, Samantha. Both husbands helped by handing out the prizes. There were 19 dogs, 1 cat. The cat survived, the dogs were well behaved. We are grateful for the support to our community of the Whiteman AFB folks.

Adoptions for the month were Marie Lavoe, Franz, Helga, Chico, Fritz & Pixie. We were notified that Leo, the Cole Camp pound dog, did get adopted through the public access shelter. Yeah!! We transferred Lexi to Flaw Dogs. She found a great home her first week-end at Arnold Petco. While we always transfer with mixed emotions, we can trust Sally, Carol & Nancy to find great homes for the fur-kids. Lexi was such a great young dog, very active, & it only took seeing her in the fur to find that home she had so desperately needed.

We also bid "Safe travels" to Priscilla and family, moving to Oregon. With her move & Lexi's transfer, we have the Mighty Mutt Youth Program on hold. We do believe the MMYP is a good idea, thus have an appointment in Nov. to speak with the local 4-H group to see if they will take over the program. Young children, medium sized young dogs, this program may eventually do well.

Our Oct. Spay/Neuter $10 discount was a success. Dr. Heimsoth told us he altered 12 dogs & cats, which is way above his average. He was thrilled at the response. He had encouraged us to ask other vets to participate. Dr. Anstaett was booked solid for the month, a smashing success. Dr. Hancock had less than 5, Dr. Johnson had about 5, yet fewer unwanted puppies will be born due to their efforts. We thank them all!!

A reminder to check petfinder.com weekly for their special events, also check out their library for helpful hints. Don't forget extra bedding & a heated water bowl if your pets must be outside during the cold weather.

Lastly, a huge "THANKS!!" to each of you who give of your time & talents to help the fur-kids here. We could not continue this work without your support & prayers. God bless you & yours, have a wonderful month of giving Thanks!!
