Nov. 1, 2004
Thanksgiving just around the
corner, and this newsletter is to give THANKS for the wonderful
blessings that we have experienced during our short time in rescue.
We must start by thanking our
rescue veterinarian, Dr. Don Anstaett, of Warsaw Veterinary Clinic, for
the tireless work he does on behalf of our senior dogs. He does his
utmost to make sure the dogs are healthy so that they may visit care
centers. Without his care and kindness, this life-saving work and
visitation program would not be possible. Thanks also to his office
staff of Carol & Karen, and the other technicians that work with
him. We also thank Dr. Don Heimsoth of Cole Camp for his help with the
Cole Camp City Pound dogs. Recently, Dr. Kendal Johnson of Windsor,
Henry County, and Chris, his office manager, began helping the Windsor
City Animal Control dogs after consulting with Dr. Anstaett. We also
thank Dr. Cheryl Albin for helping with the Sedalia Mid-Mo Humane
Society dogs. We are extremely grateful for Dr. Jane Waller and Dr. Pam
Deutsch for helping with second opinions when needed. Cooperation and
teamwork make this all happen for the lives of those homeless and
abandoned animals, no matter where the animals are located.
We must also give thanks to
those folks that adopted senior pets over the past few months. Because
of them, pets were saved from Death Row. Many shelters do not have the
funds and time to devote to the ill, old and injured. October adoptions
were Bijou, Cali, Oscar, Simon, and Tigger Murphy.
A huge THANKS to PETFINDER for
without them our web site would not be possible. We also give thanks to
Art Heimsoth for computer lessons. You may visit Cole Camp by viewing www.colecampmo.com
, thanks to the tireless work of Art, the WebMaster.
A BIG round of THANKS to Audra
of Maple Street Cafe & Bakery and Marla of Rosebud's Gifts &
Fabrics, both located in beautiful downtown Cole Camp, for helping raise
funds for dogs needing surgery and medicine. They literally saved Bijou
from Death Row by raising the funds for his extensive surgery. We also
thank the many wonderful people who sent donations, fostered dogs for a
short period of time, helped with pet food, pet items, doggy day care,
flyers, took pictures, & made phone calls to help the lost/found be
reunited. Together Everyone Achieves Much!
Lil Otto owes his very life to
the care of Whitney & Lance, then Marti and her three grandchildren.
Lil Otto has brought such joy to the residents of our Good Samaritan
Care Center and to the Community Retirement Village where he is being
fostered by Marti.
November is Adopt-A-Senior Pet
month sponsored by Petfinder. Please think of a senior pet if you are
planning to adopt. May you find time to pause and give thanks for the
personal blessings in your life. God bless you each and every one!
