Pets for Senior Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com
This
month found four fur-kids heading to the Rainbow Bridge. Our sympathy to
Diane on the loss of Maddie, Liz on the loss of Timex, Shana on the loss
of Eeyore & John on the loss of Bailey, AKA Mr. Boo.
We still
ask for your prayers for Becky, family & infant son. He has been
back & forth to Columbia Hospital after his birth on Jan. 1. We also
ask for your prayers for Matthew Kurz & his family, son of Pastor
Erich & Brenda Kurz He was injured in a near fatal car accident,
still in Rusk Rehabilitation Center in Columbia, then taken back to
hospital. Johanna's mom is still the same, Bob is home from the
hospital, Lil Sassman is doing better.
Visits to
the Good Samaritan Care Center included Lil Hans & Penny, Bubby
dancing on his back legs, letting residents pet his hairless body, rub
lotion on him, & Wabbit. The stimulation the residents receive from
having furry visitors is equal to the stimulation some of the fur-kids
receive with all of the petting.
The Cole
Camp Celtic/Irish festival found Elvira & Penny in the parade prior
to their adoption. Blue & Bijou were also in the parade with their
new guardians. Blue was handled by her pre-teen guardians. Bijou was
bicycling with Jim. Jeff & Cindy made sure Qirk could attend the
parade as he was visiting from Australia. The parade was only a block
long, yet many more participants than last year. This was the first year
for our 7 Bells fur-kids in the parade & we hope to join in many
more.
Our
adoptions for the month were Elvira, Heidi Rissi, Chalupa, Toby, Penny,
Sugar Cookie, Charo, our busiest month ever. Honey was pulled &
transferred for another rescue.
Fosters
for the month still find Charlie Brown hanging on with Mindi & Steve
(a link to Charlie's BLOG on our home page thanks to Mindi), Sir Alex
& his 4 paws & 18 wheels with Buck, Winston & Ringo with
Marti, Lizzie & Bubby with Jo Anne, Misty with Colleen, Baby with
Mary & Bo with Wayne. We are so grateful for foster homes that will
help us care for more fur-kids as we are so full on-site. We could not
do the volume we are doing without such fantastic foster homes.
Patty
held a garage sale, donating part of the proceeds to help with vet work.
We are still using some of the toys sent by Pat last year to help raise
funds with the donation jar being in Maple St. Cafe & Bakery. There
is a donation jar at the Cole Camp Pharmacy to help raise funds for the
Cole Camp/Lincoln city pound dogs. There is a donation jar at Der Essen
Platz to raise funds for the Stover Animal Shelter. So many local folks
love fur-kids & are willing to help the cause.
We must
also give special THANKS to Jo Anne for the many trips she has been
making to help transport dogs to other rescues. In addition to
fostering, she helps transport for other rescues. Marti often
accompanies her & the ladies make sure the fur-kids arrive safely
& with paperwork in hand. Carl taught us the importance of that
paperwork!
Jo Anne
& Marti have spent the month meeting prospective adopters in town,
chatting with them about the purpose of our senior dog rescue,
chauffering them to meet the fur-kids. Jo Anne has been doing reference
checks, follow-up phone calls, vet visits. All of our volunteers are
honest & dependable & their help is priceless!
Thanks
also to everyone reading this that helps in any way, food, sheets, toys,
collars, leashes, clothes, advice & those that are praying for those
still waiting here for their fur-ever home. Having adopters meet all the
fur-kids when they come to adopt lets them see the work we do, the ones
that are left behind, waiting ever so patiently for that right family to
come along & cherish them in their senior years.
