Pets for Senior Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com
This is
the first month in a long time that we have not been notified of the
death of a beloved pet. If we overlooked any death, we truly apologize.
Becky
& Jim still need our prayers as their baby boy is still in the
hospital since his premature birth on Jan. 1. Johanna's mom and family
still need our prayers as her mom has been moved to a care facility.
Visits to
the Good Samaritan Care Center were a bit slow this month. Elvira needed
the most social time, thus we concentrated on her.
Our
adoptions for the month were Blue, Frost, Ice, Jonah, Wilson, Madeline
& Audie.
Fosters
for the month include Bijou with Jim & Margie, Charlie Brown with
Mindi & Steve, Charo with Gerry & Art, Sir Alex still 18
wheeling with Buck, Misty with Colleen, Winston with Marti, &
Bathsheba (Baby) with JoAnne.
One of
our goals for 2006 was to educate young people about being kind to pets.
The future of pets depends on the children of today growing up to be
responsible adult caregivers. Priscilla started up our Mighty Mutt Youth
Program to help achieve that goal. Evidently the Lord thought we needed
some professional help. He sent us a First Grade Teacher who adopted
Audie, and also went home with Madeline. Thank you, Lord, Lana &
family.
Julie
returned with Gertrude NKA Gretta to visit for an afternoon of doggy
social time. We are always thrilled to see our adopted fur-kids and
their family.
The Cole
Camp city pound had a record month for intakes and adoptions/transfers.
One dog was microchipped. However, the owner failed to update his change
of address. The original shelter was located, agreed to take the dog
back. We delivered the dog meeting up with the shelter mgr. at a halfway
point, Jefferson City. While in Jeff City, we met up with Sally &
Carol of Flaw Dogs. Tami and her husband, Jim, hosted our lunch, we met
their fur-kids, all dachshunds. Marti, JoAnne and I took along cookies
from the Maple St. Cafe & Bake Shop.
In Feb.
we reported "We took in yet immediately transferred to another
rescue 6 young dogs." That transfer involved a road trip to Morse
Mill, Flaw Dogs. Mary, Marti, Jo Anne and I all went there for lunch,
had a tour, we were all impressed with the facility. Even prior to
meeting Sally and Carol, I borrowed part of their home page to send to
adoptors interested in one of the retired breeding dogs. They take
special handling and no one knows this better than the folks at Flaw
Dogs. At that time, we took a 17 mo. old dachshund, owner surrender, a 3
yr. yellow lab/basset from a vet's where she was to be killed, 4 puppies
from a local farm before they were taken to a high kill shelter. All of
those dogs are spayed prior to being placed for adoption. Pediatric
spay/neuter is done by this rescue. Umbrellas were set up for shade,
separate play areas, heated dog houses, tiled floors and pillows all
about the house, doggy door. We came back with many great ideas. My mind
shifted to Carl and the great job he would have with electrical outlets.
We are
grateful for the many blessings we have received that help us care for
these fur-kids. Thanks to everyone for helping us help them.
