Senior
Pets for Senior Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com
We
offer sympathy to Nikki on the passing of Dim Sum & Siki, Bobbie on
the passing of Rosebud. The pups Mickey & Lil Larry became Angel
Pups. Judy V took in Esposita from a breeder with the belief her last
litter of pups had been weaned. She was in such poor shape the vet could
not spay her. What the vet & Judy V thought was a cancerous mass
turned out to be puppies. She delivered 5 pups & 2 have passed. Poor
nutrition for mom resulted in a very poor start for these fragile lives.
Foster
Care finds Ringo doing well in Fur-Ever Foster Care with Colleen. Jolly,
Abednego, PeggySue are with Susan. Alyssa is with Gerry & Art.
Jessie, ChicoMan, Moses, LindaRose, Brigitte, Maggie, Dixie, Teto, Vego,
Tristain, Esposita & pups, Ms. Effie, Lil Art, & Trish are with
Judy V. Randy, Suzannah, & Chico are with Barbara. Cinderella,
SnowWhite, Mojo, Muffin, TeddyBear, BabyCakes, Lazarus & Cher are
with Paula & Alesha, Shadrach & Meshack are with Jennifer.
CocoaPuff is with Trina We still need more foster homes as we must say
"No!" to many fur-kids at risk.
Good
Samaritan Care Center visit was done by Meranda during National Nursing
Home Week, pet visitor representative. She is so small, so well behaved.
She was held by many of the residents, some staff & visitors. She
cuddled, dozed off in arms. The residents need the warmth of a touch, a
tiny one to hold. Many memories come flooding back to the residents as
they tell of pets they used to have.
Adoptions
were Halo, Schatze, Lil Sammy, Olaf, Cirri, Winki, Dumplin, Fritz,
Meranda & Misty, Deera, Hopalong Cassidy "Hoppy" (handled
by Susan), Cory (handled by Judy V), Mojo (handled by Paula).
Cole
Camp black lab pound dog Lily was taken to Sedalia Mid-Missouri Humane
Society after her spay/Rabies were done. We learned later that she had
been put down due to becoming ill. The beagle youngster named Bingo
& the cairn terrier named Tater were adopted locally after they were
altered.
We
had two large vet days this month. One trip due to new arrivals &
full vet work needed. The other trip was for those that needed dentals,
updated vaccinations, Senior CBC/Thyroid panels & one microchip.
Dental hygiene is so important to keep kidneys, heart, lungs
functioning. For those that have been here quite some time they need
follow-up vet work.
May
10 was our Cole Camp 6th Annual Maifest. Included was the 1st Pet
Fashion Show, Pet Talent Show, Pet Games, a time for children to
celebrate. What a great way for the young & young at heart to enjoy
a day with their pets. We had a lovely turnout in spite of wind, cold,
intermittent showers. Marti & Barb did their usual fine job at the
"Meet & Greet" table on the Rosebud Gifts & Fabric
porch. Judy V & hubby brought several of their fur-kids. Kim &
hubby with BassetsRus brought their bassets & set up a lovely table
with articles to help the Cole Camp Pound "Pennies for
Pooches" project. Trina & son & Gwen & son brought
their agility course items & several of the pets tried that out.
Water relay was a hoot with young & young at heart & their
pooches. Most colorful on the parade was Paula's food coloring on
Cinderella & SnowWhite, decorated as colorful as a garden of
flowers. Polly's Precious Paws does a great job keeping our fur-kids
looking nice.
June
7 will be the City Wide garage sale, car/motorcycle show, bar-b-q
contest. June 14 will be the 17th annual Saengerfest (Singers Festival)
a festival of German music & song. Spend your vacation in our town
& pets are welcomed & encouraged. Some of our pets &
volunteers may be on the lawn at Rosebud Gifts & Fabric weather
permitting.
We
are so grateful when we receive those gently used items. Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle. Please continue to think of us & our little Cole
Camp/Lincoln pound before throwing anything away.
Saving
your pennies? Please bring them to Rosebud Gifts & Fabric, Cole Camp
Pharmacy, Maxwell's Woodcarving, or The Gilded Lily. Those businesses
are raising "Pennies for Pooches" to help make life better for
the Cole Camp pound dogs. The goal is for every pound dog to be
spayed/neutered prior to transfer to another rescue/shelter. Adopted
pound dogs to individuals are altered PRIOR to placement in their new
home.
With
rising gas/fuel prices it's a great time for adopters or pet lovers to
come to town, spend the entire day, shop at many of our pet friendly
establishments. Rosebud Gifts & Fabric, Maple St. Cafe, Maxwell's
Woodcarving, Gilded Lily, Buzzard Roost, Handel Haus, Prairie Mercantile
will have discount cards added to adoption packets beginning the month
of June. Any Red Hat Society members reading this? Prairie Mercantile
has the neatest selection of red & purple coffee makers &
toasters, & they are wheelchair accessible!
We
give thanks to each of you who so generously give of your time &
talents to help these fur-kids as they wait patiently for their fur-ever
homes. Rescue life is good, yet a fur-ever home is best. We could not do
this work without your continued support. God bless you each & every
one.
And
last, but not least, a very special prayer for those in uniform keeping
us safe & free. May our Lord wrap His Bubble of Protection about
them & those that wait patiently for their return.
