Pets for Seniors Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com
We start
this month offering sympathy to Kathy and her husband on the loss of
Tiny, a tiny chihuahua with her nose always in his armpit to snooze. She
was lying on his chest when she died. She gave one last little sigh,
then passed on to the Bridge.
Our
special adoption for the month was Lil Buddy who now waits patiently for
his guardians to arrive from California. He may have lost his eye due to
an old injury, yet he has found a special family willing to love him
just as he is. Also adopted were Savannah Spring, Lil Freddy Mercury,
Princess and Monique. Monique waits patiently with Marti, her foster
mom, for her guardian to arrive from Florida. Some of the dogs listed
for veterinarians and other rescues also found homes. We are grateful
for the volunteers willing to help veterinarians help us place good dogs
in good homes.
Visits to
the Good Samaritan Care Center were made by Lil Freddy Mercury, Princess
and Monique with Marti. On May 21 we helped organize a Pets on Parade
Spring Fashion Show at the care center. It was preceded by an obedience
class held by Trina's Obedience and Behavior Modification in the care
center courtyard. There were 13 dogs, 1 cat and 1 hampster in attendance
at the fashion show. Queen, one of the adopted dogs, was in the show.
Monique was also in attendance. Several family members and friends of
the resident judges and MC attended. Marti and her friend, Ruby M.
Kriesel, handled the registrations. The 2PM fashion show began with a
group of Red Hat Society ladies from Bolivar singing B-I-N-G-O, the dog
song. There were prizes and refreshments. It seemed as if everyone had a
really good time.
Trina
came to the rescue to evaluate the Magnificent 7, a group of breed dogs
we took into our rescue on May 12. We have Billy Bob, Lacy, Peaches,
Monique, Lil Joe, Lil Matt, and Shadow. We are surely learning a lot
from this experience! We updated each profile with Trina's behavior
modification tips. Most of these dogs will need patience to develop
trust of humans. Trina has also been holding an obedience class every
Sat. 1PM Stover Park. Now, when folks call to ask us to take their
problem dog, we encourage them to take advantage of her complimentary
lesson to help them keep their dog. They find that one lesson by Trina
does help. Those folks have then returned for her complete series of
lessons. We are getting much positive feedback. The dog that the family
thought was a problem child has turned into a well behaved dog, a
delight to walk and enjoy. We are so grateful for Trina's help.
June 24
& 25 we have been asked to participate in the Dieckman Swap Meet
Daze at the west edge of Cole Camp. We plan to take a couple of the dogs
to promote our rescue work. We also plan to have volunteers help with a
booth, free will donations for items donated to help raise funds for
surgery and medical needs. Our rescue funds are only used to pay for the
veterinarian expenses and occasional grooming needed on the long haired,
matted dogs. We are able to take in more dogs because more people are
helping. God luv them each and every one!
