Senior
Pets for Senior Homes www.7bellssanctuary.petfinder.com
We begin
with sympathy to Pam's dad on the loss of China, Johanna and family on
the loss of Sinatra, Joe on the loss of Brandy. It is never easy losing
a pet, yet Christmas is especially tough. Our rescue cat, Tigger Tanner,
passed away suddenly. Maggie also went to the Bridge. Her pain is now
over.
Visits to
the Good Samaritan Care Center included Jaxs accompanied by Jerry,
Bijou, Lil Hans and Peaches. Both Lil Hans and Peaches were wearing the
sweaters sent by donors after reading of the need on our home page.
Thanks!! The residents do so love the furry visitors. Lil Hans made a
surprise visit to the Brauersville Lutheran Ladies Aid quilting bee this
month. He was quite the hit, running about, sniffing feet, even got on
one of the blankets as the ladies were tacking it.
Adoptions
for the month were Jaxs, Morris, Chip, & Lil Henry. We also
facilitated the adoption of JuJu, a yorkie. While Michele did not adopt
from us (as Katie found a wonderful home) we contacted other rescues and
found a wonderful little yorkie with St. Louis Sr. Dog Project. We
picked up JuJu near Jefferson City, then she stayed here a few days
until Michele could drive up from Arkansas and pick her up. Even if
folks don't adopt from us, we try to help them adopt from other rescues.
What joy!!
Fosters
for the month include Sir Alex still 18 wheeling with Buck promoting
rescue adoptions. Charlie Brown is still with Mindi & Steve and
making remarkable progress with the help of Charlie's Angels praying for
him. Misty is with Becky and her family, Winston is with Marti, Charo is
with Gerry and Art, Blue is spending the Christmas break with Heidi and
the girls, & Bijou spent a couple of weeks with Jim & Margie at
the Buzzard Roost Woodcarving often going home at night with them. We
could not do what we do without our great foster homes and doggy day
care families.
Please
check out the update on Tarot Yoda from Sue, who has relocated to
Arkansas with the gang. We have also had some educational updates from
Martina who adopted Monique NKA LuLu and from Ron who adopted Chip. They
are located on our Happy Tails pages.
We are
thrilled at a couple of pieces of exciting news to share. Lexington MO
now has a licensed rescue, Friends of the Friendless. This group has
several volunteers that recently began to help the Lexington city pound.
They set up and are maintaining Petfinder. We had helped them get
started as Petfinder works!! They need to get exposure, network with
other rescues, list the dogs for the public to see to adopt. Yeah!!
Thanks to
Mary and Tipi Girl, we recently received a winning September contest
prize, courtesy of Petfinder.com and Purina. Wow! We were overwhelmed.
It came just before Christmas so a swell gift. Mary and Marti will
accompany us on a shopping trip in the near future to make life better
for the old ones here. We are extremely grateful for the donated
sweaters, towels, feed, litter & Kuranda beds.
We are
finding more young volunteers. Priscilla has started a new program
within our senior dog rescue. Mighty Mutts! Remember the song "Here
I come to save the day, Mighty Mouse is on the way? Her first project
will be Lexi. She is a young mixed breed, good with kids, other dogs. We
have to admit, if we want to reach young people, they need a first time
dog and mixed breeds possess the best of everything.
Priscilla,
Mary, Marti and Johanna are doing more computer work to help the rescue
effort. Johanna is now maintaining petfinder.com for the entire cat
population in her local shelter. Yeah!!
As the
year ends, we count our many blessings. All of you reading this are
included in our prayers of thankfulness. God bless you and yours!
