Our
sympathy to Trina on the passing of CocoPuff, ReGina on the passing
of Mickey, our own Snow White who kept waiting patiently for a
fur-ever home, Chris on the passing of Wilson, Judy V on the passing
of Sega. K-9 Bereavement Counselor contact is Michelle at mzcgrief@yahoo.com
if you need to talk with someone who understands your grief.
We
have had some of our volunteers, fosters & adopters with medical
& personal challenges. Please keep those in need in your
thoughts & prayers this holiday season & throughout the
year.
The
profiles of the fur-kids in foster care are noted. Each foster
parent does a really good job with updates on their fosters. Judy V
will be doing the petfinder updates on the fur-kids in her care.
Updates should help a potential adopter know if the fur-kid is
suitable for their home. Kimberly is our new foster home for Teri
& a returning foster Jennifer & Jim are fostering Mitzie.
Marti is taking a break from Hospice fur-kids & doing short term
healthy fosters. Mildred is a special one time foster for Freckles.
We are always flexible to prevent burn-out. Fosters pick the breeds
they prefer so we are rather breed specific within this all breed
rescue.
The
Good Samaritan Care Center visit was with Buck & Mary bringing
Santa Paws AKA Gus, Mrs Santa Paws AKA Snickers, & Santa Paws'
helper AKA Frieda. They were dressed in appropriate red & white
outfits with Santa Paws & his big black belt. It's always nice
to see our adopted fur-kids & families return for a visit to the
care center. The residents & staff do seem to enjoy the visits.
Adoptions
began with Judy V placing SallyLu, Empress Dora, Larissa, PeggySue,
then Squeaker was placed by Judy V & Barbara. Daisy was placed
by Susan, Katydid & Tippin by Marti, Lupa by MaryKay. Foster
families make this happen! There were also several kennel dogs we
could not take. The breeder close to Judy V took them to Judy V's
vet. They were altered, dentals as needed, Rabies, then a licensed
rescue picked them up, paid their vet bill. It was a fun morning
with coffee, cinnamon rolls and an apricot strudel from the Maple
St. Bakery. Saving lives, how sweet it was!
As
winter is fast approaching, we will soon be in hibernation mode.
It's been a busy time getting dentals & Rabies updated on those
that have been here quite some time, still waiting patiently for
their fur-ever homes. Lil Hans lost his last canine tooth so no more
dentals needed for him. He is so happy about that!
Christbaumfest
was our last Meet & Greet of the year. We were at Maxwell's
Woodcarving, inside, warm, with Miles & Jed in attendance.
Marti, Barb, Mildred did a super job! Adopted fur-kids Chipper,
Tito, Hercules & Daisy dropped by to spend some time showing
what senior love is all about. Of course, Bijou is always at
Maxwell's to greet folks. You can access all of the Oktoberfest
pictures that our Cole Camp Webmaster, Art Heimsoth, took at http://colecamparea.com/octfest08/index.html
and then clicking on any you want to get a high resolution image of
that picture.
www.Petfinder.com
has the Library section with articles on caring for Senior Dogs. The
library is full of useful tips no matter what age or breed of pet
you adopted.
We
give THANKS this month for the wonderful blessings throughout the
year. So many of you have helped us care for these seniors &
special needs. We simply could not do this work without your
assistance. Please know that we appreciate each & every kindness
you show our fur-kids. THANKSgiving! God bless you each & every
one!
The
words of a good friend - "Thanks Giving? How would we have the
ability to take the time, enjoy the right to do so, if not for the
sacrifices made, by our men and women in uniform? Perhaps today,
they are sitting in a trench, walking a patrol, in harm's way ...
while you and I sit here enjoying the smells of Thanksgiving?
Freedom has never been free: they are making payments. And that
alone should trigger a Thanks Giving. To our men and women in
uniform: Thank You!"
