Miss
Vicki is now waiting at the Rainbow Bridge, fully restored to health,
strutting her little shih tzu stuff.
Colleen
still cares for Misty & Ringo in Fur-ever Foster Care. She is also
fostering Savannah, needing TLC after her surgery. Elvis & Brandy
are in foster care with Marti. Brandy is recovering from surgery &
complications, needs TLC of Marti. Susan is fostering Hoppy &
Cinderella. Cinder needs TLC, coming out of her little shell.
Toby
visited the Good Samaritan Care Center with John, Marti & I. It's
always so neat to have the fur-kids & parents come back for a visit.
The residents do so enjoy visitors.
A
visit was made to the MO Veterans' Home in Warrensburg. Attending were
SSgt Erin, shih tzu Samantha, Susan with yorkie Max, Karl with dachshund
Lil Buddy, & I with chihuahua Stella. We put on a fall fashion show
with the help of staff & volunteers at the VA home.
Adoptions
for the month were Jiminey, Dennis, Della, Reba, Ceasar (a cockatiel),
Fritz & CeeCee. Cole Camp pound dog, Buddy, made it out of the pound
safely, thanks to Sally & Carol.
I
spoke with the local 4-H group about taking over the Mighty Mutt Youth
Program since Priscilla moved to Oregon. Doubt any decision will be made
until after the first of the year. While I still firmly believe it is a
great program, I nor our senior volunteers have the energy for young,
high energy fur-kids.
We
have received a few phone calls & e-mails asking if we need anything
special for the fur-kids. While we are not in desperate need, we can
always use any dog supplies that you do not use or need. If you get new
towels, washcloths, sheets, blankets, consider donating your gently used
or even well used ones. You may mail them to the address on our home
page. Your local shelter or rescue would even welcome those if postage
is a problem. We also welcome medical supplies, labeled Rxs, cotton
balls, gauze pads, vet wraps, baby aspirin, glucosamine. Anything you
have that would make life easier on these that keep waiting patiently
for their fur-ever homes would be so much appreciated.
Our
adoptions have paid the vet bills. We were unable to take in 27 dogs
from 3 breeders. As you can imagine, the funds to fully vet that many
dogs is simply beyond our means or energy level. With the help of Susan
& Marti, we transported all 27 to trusted rescues that spay/neuter
PRIOR to adoption.
As
I write this, sleet is falling, snow blowing across the valley. We are
in a hibernation mode for a few days during & following each storm.
Please
remember to check www.petfinder.com for their weekly specials. Also
check out their library for hints with training or any other issues you
are having. Please add extra bedding & a heated water bowl if you
have pets that must spend their days/nights outside. Consider a heated
dog house. Your pet will thank you.
We
do wish you & yours a safe & happy Christmas season. May your
fur-kids be loved. May you fall asleep each night knowing you are loved
by the fur-kid sharing your life, your heart, your home.
We
give THANKS to each of you that help the fur-kids here. We are grateful
for your support & prayers. God bless you & yours. May you end
the year with contentment in your life.
