Senior
Pets for Senior Homes
Another
month starts off with messages of sympathy, Julie on the death of King,
Wendy on the death of Marlin, Connie S. on the death of Maggie, Lynn
& Family on the death of Snowstorm, and Denise on the death of
Kirsten. It is never easy letting go of a loved one. Yet, we know they
will now be waiting for us at the Bridge.
Visits
to the Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp were made by Lil Buddy,
Ruby with Tipi Girl & Peaches. Lil Buddy & Peaches wore
red/white/blue. We also had some prospective adopters meet the dogs at
the care center so they could witness how well the dogs were around
medical equipment. Hans carried in CoJo AKA Charlotte, and Julie carried
Gertie, NKA Gretta. We also accompanied Pam as Rainey, a yellow lab,
made her first visit. We love it when local residents show up with their
pets.
We
were also asked to come to the Golden Age Living Center in Stover with
the dogs. After our Saturday obedience classes with Trina some of the
students went to visit. Christine and Peaches strolled the halls to meet
with residents. Gwen and her son with Wyatt, her Australian shepherd,
and Laya, an aussie pup, visited with the residents. Tipi Girl took
Marti and Lacy took me. The residents do so love furry visitors.
We
had our second fund raiser at Doug Dieckman's Auction Center. The heat
was horrific, yet we did have some pre-approved adopters come to meet
the dogs. Thanks to Marti this month for helping handle the booth. Ruby
planned to help yet the heat was just too unbearable.
We
have also had a very busy month both with incoming dogs and adoptions.
We received word to either take 12 retired breeder dogs or they would be
killed. We felt we had no choice. We called Connie with SWMOK9s &
she took 3 of them. We also called Bill with Angels in Distress & he
was able to help with some of the dogs. The rest we kept in our rescue.
We then got another call to take 5 retired dogs or they also would be
killed. Not on our watch!!
Our
adoptions for the month were Shadow, Cindy, Chalupa, Lil Buddy,
Gertrude, Tipi Girl, Spot, & Charlotte. Also, congrats to Bill. He
is our first foster home to receive his state rescue license. Yeah! Bill
was able to take 8 dogs total for the month. It takes TEAMwork to save
lives. Together Everyone Achieves Much!
Obedience
classes have been cancelled until cooler weather. Please watch for
updates on our home page.
Our
state inspector made his return 30 day visit and we passed with flying
colors. At least that is over for another year! Yeah! We have to admit,
the fencing for small dogs is much safer now.
Thanks
go to everyone for your continued kindness, advice and support. We truly
could not accomplish what we do without everyone pitching in to help in
some way or another.
