Bereavement Counselor contact is Michelle at mzcgrief@yahoo.com if you
need to talk with someone who understands your grief.
We
offer sympathy to Ruth & her mom on the loss of Kai, Sandy on the
loss of Lucille, Bobbie on the loss of Angel.
Foster
Care finds Ringo still doing well in Fur-Ever Foster Care with Colleen.
(We are extremely grateful to his Fairy DogMother.) Ringo will be
staying on site for a few days for some medical care then return to
Colleen. "Hoppy," Jolly & Dodi are with Susan. Alyssa is
with Gerry & Art. Jessie, ChicoMan, Moses, Prince Eric, Olaf, Dagmar,
Heidi & puppies Lil Art, Victoria, Cory, & Trish, are with Judy
V. Randy, Suzannah & Chiquita are with Barbara. Daisy is with Marti.
Cinderella, SnowWhite, Winki, Puddles, Jock, BabyCakes & puppies
DinkerDoo & Halo are with Paula & Alesha. Snikki is with Barb.
Jazz is with Ron & Nancy. Punky is with Jane. CocoaPuff is with
Trina. (Trina has taken the first step toward her rescue license.
Inspection by Dept. of Ag. was done, suggestions made, re-check in 90
days, then the license should be issued. We learned much from his
visit.) We need more foster homes as we must say "No!" to many
fur-kids at risk.
Adoptions
were Shelby, Erica, Schatze, Matilda (adoptions handled by Judy V with
transfer to another rescue on Matilda), SammyJoe (adoption facilitated
by Carl Nylund, KCRescue), Dan (adoption handled by Paula). Heidi was
transferred to another rescue in exchange for Snikki.
Cole
Camp pound dog Rosebud AKA "Rosie" was saved thanks to a Fairy
GodMother quilting group. She was transferred to Bobbie with Silverwalk
Hounds who will handle her adoption.
Visits
to the Good Samaritan Care Center should resume in April as weather
warms up. We will begin April 5 by taking pets to the Irish/Celtic
Festival, then as many as possible from the parade to the care center.
Some of the pets will be colored green. Others will be wearing green
clothing. Please see the note on our home page in green about this FUN
event. Come join us & bring the fur-kids!
More
dentals were tended to & vaccinations updated as needed. Some of the
fur-kids have been here a year, some 2 years. Dental hygiene is of
utmost importance. Bacteria may affect kidneys, thus impact heart &
lungs. The foster homes & volunteers handled many of the rescue
duties for March & April. They are quick to learn, eager to take on
more responsibility. So proud of each and every one of them!
Lil
Hans & I attended Trina's graduating class of canines on Mar. 1. The
end of the class was a fun time, games for pets & graduates. We hope
to incorporate some of those games into the Cole Camp Maifest, May 10,
10AM - 5PM.
Judy
V & I made a trip to FlawDogs to get ideas so Judy V may construct a
BIG DOG HOUSE. Lunch & Learn, with things to do & not to do,
helpful hints from Sally & Carol. Doc has also made some
suggestions. The Inspector will be consulted prior to construction. Judy
V wants things done properly.
Several
folks from Cole Camp & Lincoln rode the train to Hermann Mar. 30 for
the Dachshund Races. Lil Hans had a chauffeur so he could go
representing Cole Camp. He was so busy at the starting line telling his
Hermann handler all about Cole Camp that he totally ignored the start
command of "Go!" & made no attempt to run. He's an
Ambassador, not a racer! We plan to have our Cole Camp 2nd annual
Dachshund Race, Talent Show, Fashion Show during Oktoberfest. Getting
ideas from the "expert" racers at Hermann was quite fun &
educational.
Do
you have a Happy Tail? All of our adopters do! Please send Petfinder.com
your pet's happy ending story. It will be entered in their monthly Happy
"Tail" drawing. You may win a Man's Best Friend Fun Pack &
a baseball cap from the friends at The Animal Rescue Site.
"We
give thanks to each of you who so generously give of your time &
talents to help these fur-kids as they wait patiently for their fur-ever
homes. Rescue life is good yet it cannot begin to compare with a
fur-ever home.
And
last, but not least, a very special prayer for those in uniform keeping
us safe & free. May God wrap His Bubble of Protection about them
& those that wait patiently for their return.
